Ma Chung University proud of Dr. Leenawaty Limantara for her new post as an Ambassador Scientist of the Alexander van Humboldt (AvH) Foundation, Germany in Indonesia. As an ambassador scientist she disseminates information about Germany as a research location at universities and research institution in Indonesia, focusing particularly on the AvH’s sponsorship programmes and international network. She also advice the Humboldt Foundation and other German funding organizations on local programme promotion and networking.
Dr. Limantara joined AvH Foundation in 2004 as a postdoctoral fellow at Prof. Dr. Hugo Scheer, Universitat Munchen, Germany. At her return back to Indonesia, she became the first Indonesian expert scientist in the field of photosynthetic pigments i.e. bacteriochlorophylls and its derivatives for use in the photodynamic therapy for cancer. Through her carrier, she pioneered the foundation of Ma Chung Research Center for Photosynthetic Pigments (MRCPP), Ma Chung University, Indonesia. Currently, she also serves as the rector of Ma Chung University.
