2nd NPSEA was successfully held on July 12-13, 2013 at University of Ma Chung, Malang. This international seminar involved speakers from UK(Prof. Richard J. Cogdell, FRS - Glasgow University), Germany (Prof. Hugo Scheer - Ludwig Maximilians University), Japan (Prof. Hideki Hashimoto - Osaka City University), France (Prof. Bruno Robert - Institute of Biology and Technology Saclay), USA (Prof. Sherry A. Tanumihardjo -University of Wisconsin-Madion) and Indonesia (Prof. K. Ocky Radjasa - Diponegoro University, Dr. Donald Siahaan - Oil Palm Research Center and Dr. Tony Liwang - PT. SMART, Tbk.) . They discussed the role of photosynthetic pigments in relation to energy security, food and health. This event was attended by representatives from various universities and research institutions from Indonesia and the surrounding countries in the South-East Asia.

In this occasion, HP2I core committee also held a brief meeting with their advisers, Prof. Richard J. Cogdell and Prof. Hugo Scheer, with its topic about the development HP2I and the next regular meeting schedule. Prof. Cogdell and Prof. Scheer suggested that student involvement was necessary for the continuation of this association. For the future, HP2I was suggested to conduct activities such as summer school and workshops for students to introduce the idea of the role of pigments in life. Furthermore, it was agreed that the next meeting would be held at the University of Diponegoro and led by Prof. Ocky K. Radjasa.
